Woodwind Quintet and Trumpet Trio

Our two ensembles will not be playing this Saturday, April 18, at the Jr. Division Solo and Ensemble Contest.  April has just become too busy to have the ensembles prepared to perform. We will continue to prepare the music and have them perform in Chapel at school and at a service at Damascus Community Church.   The Woodwind Ensemble is made up of Lindi B. on Flute, Keira B. Oboe, Carrie O. Clarinet, Kayla K. Clarinet, Alyssa B. Horn, and Lydia M. Tenor Sax.  The Trumpet Trio is Alyssa B., Val W., and Hannah S.

Psalm 33:1-4

Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely of the upright.  Praise the LORD with harp; sing unto him with the psaltry and an instrument of ten strings.  Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.  For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
As a band director, I especially like the "play skillfully".  The part "with a loud noise", I assume means with good breath support.  However, the most important part is "the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth".

Parent Teacher Conferences and Maple/Chocolate Bars

Again this grading period I am giving each student who has a parent attend the parent teacher conference and speak with me or Mrs. Schmidt a maple or chocolate bar.  To make the deal even sweeter, each parent will receive a maple or chocolate bar at the conference.  On the serious side, we would love to talk to the parents about their child's progress in band.
